We’re committed to reducing our carbon footprint. We participate in the Climate Smart program, which means we’ve established a baseline carbon emissions measure and have an active plan to reduce those emissions. We track corporate energy use, including greenhouse gas emissions, to support our carbon reduction program.
We report fuel usage data to Climate Smart and to the municipalities in which we work. Ecoworks has a fleet GPS system, which monitors and helps promote safe driving habits as well as our anti-idling program. We follow Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, preferring mechanical removal of weeds over pesticide.
Training & Environmental Work
Since 1993, we’ve partnered with municipalities, the Province of BC and the Government of Canada to engage in an array of environmentally significant work: stream mapping, stream cleanup, streamside rehabilitation, erosion control, gravel pit reclamation, riparian planting, habitat assessment, tree-planting and environmental education.
Other major projects have included footbridge and vehicle bridge construction, trail building, board walks, stairways and recreational facility development. Our teams have built sections of the Trans Canada Trail and completed the restoration of the Aldergrove Bowl. All of these projects were completed in the context of equipping more than 2000 unemployed youth with the skills to succeed and move on to other employment and training.
